Indigo Sun To Open New Salon At The Pavilion Shopping Centre

Tanning salon chain Indigo Sun is to open a new shop at the Pavilion Shopping Centre in Thornaby.

The chain, which reported its best results, recording a turnover of more than £26m and almost £5.6m profit in its latest financial year, is investing £350,000 in the new unit and will create two full-time and six part-time jobs.

It has agreed a 15-year lease with national commercial property and investment company LCP, which owns and manages the centre, for units 12 and 13 at St Peter's House.

Frank Taylor, managing director of the Stirling-based family-run business, said he aims to open the new 2153 sq ft salon in April.

"The Thornaby outlet is the typical location we choose due to the mix of outlets and the ease of parking," he said.

"The customer can park their car directly in front of our unit and is able to access all the other services on site, including the large Asda, which makes for convenience."

Rakesh Joshi, Lettings Director at LCP, which is part of M Core - the acquisitive commercial property collective and one of the largest, privately held commercial property portfolios in the UK, added: "We're pleased to welcome Indigo Sun to another of our retail centres, bringing our shoppers an award-winning national brand to the Pavilion Shopping Centre."

The letting comes after LCP agreed a 10-year lease of the 1,589 sq ft market cafe unit to Siesta Coffee.

Martin Wade, Associate Director at LCP, added: "The Pavilion is a thriving shopping centre that has a great range of high street favourites and independent stores. With just a handful of units available to let, we're working hard to bring more new names to the centre soon."

The Pavilion Shopping Centre comprises about 270,000 sq ft of retail and office accommodation and is anchored by a 100,000 sq ft Asda at its southern end and a 17,500 sq ft Lidl at its northern end.

Tenants include Bank of Scotland, Iceland, Boots, Card Factory, Home Bargains and Wilko.
