New lifesaving equipment installed at Churchill Shopping Centre, Dudley
"We are really pleased to have this bleed control cabinet on site at the Churchill Centre. It is a straightforward step that could make a real difference in an emergency, and we are proud to support Councillor Casey and the Daniel Baird Foundation in making Dudley Town Centre a safer place for everyone who visits us."
A new public access bleed control cabinet and kit has been installed on the side of a well-known shopping centre in the heart of Dudley Town Centre.
The cabinet, located at the key main entrance of the Churchill Shopping Centre has been donated by Councillor Keiran Casey following fundraising and his work to increase community safety working alongside the Daniel Baird Foundation.
Councillor Casey approached the owners of the Churchill Centre, LCP UK, part of M Core, to ask whether they would lend a hand in supporting his campaign by installing this on their property so that this could be easily accessed in the event of an emergency where someone could be at risk of bleeding to death, which they did without hesitation.
The location of the cabinet is at the centre’s Birmingham Street entrance given the footfall that walks through to this part of town, as well as in advance of the new bus station and metro exchange being completed, which will see significantly more footfall.
Keiran Casey, Councillor for Castle and Priory Ward and Daniel Baird Foundation representative, said:
“I’m really grateful to LCP UK, part of M Core, and the Management Team at the Churchill Centre for their help and support in getting this cabinet installed and for wanting this at their centre.
These kits have been proven time and time again to save lives when someone is at risk of bleeding to death whilst emergency services are on the way, and this can be because of any sort of emergency, from car accidents to simple slips and trips that can become serious.
It’s great that there is another kit in Dudley Town Centre that is there if anyone ever needs to use it, and I’m glad that I’ve been able to raise the funds, working with the Daniel Baird Foundation to get this cabinet and kit, as well as having businesses like LCP UK, part of M Core, who are willing to help out.”
