LCP UK secures new letting at M Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre with The Brownie Bakery and Wine Bar
"It's fantastic to see The Brownie Bakery and Wine Bar make the move from stall to permanent unit. Supporting independent operators as they grow is a real priority for us at Chelmsley Wood. Watching a local business build a loyal following and take that next step is exactly the kind of success story we want the centre to be known for."
LCP UK, part of M Core, has completed a new letting at Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre in Birmingham, bringing The Brownie Bakery and Wine Bar into a permanent 1,357 sq ft unit at Unit 4, next to Halifax. The unit is open from 9am to 5pm.
The independent operator, previously trading as a stall within the centre, has signed a five year lease, reflecting strong footfall performance and growing demand for food and beverage occupiers within the scheme.
The Brownie & Bake Company has built a loyal customer base around its bakery and breakfast offer, including cookies, brownies, quiches, scrambled egg on toast and smoothies, alongside an online ordering service for next day collection. The move into a permanent unit, expanding into a wine bar format, marks a significant step up from its market stall origins and adds further depth to the centre's independent F&B line-up.
The letting forms part of LCP UK's ongoing strategy to diversify the tenant mix at Chelmsley Wood, strengthening the centre's food and beverage and experiential offer alongside its core retail base.
Rob Ellis, Director at LCP UK, part of M Core, said: "It's fantastic to see The Brownie Bakery and Wine Bar make the move from stall to permanent unit. Dave Walker, who co-owns The Brownie Bakery and Wine Bar with his wife Rachael, said: "We have created seven jobs by opening this business, and we intend to grow that further as it develops. Signing a five year lease reflects our confidence in Chelmsley Wood as the right long-term home for us."
M Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre continues to attract independent and growing brands, with the centre's management team actively supporting occupiers as they scale from trial concepts into permanent units.
Brent Cooper, Legal Counsel at LCP UK, part of M Core acted as solicitor on the transaction on behalf of the landlord.
